Samburu, Buffalo Springs and Shaba game reserve Lying 325 from Nairobi along the Trans African highway, the three reserves lie on an ecological zone with hot and dry climate during the day and cool at night. They are traversed by the Ewaso Nyiro river with its beautiful scenery of Doun Palms and strip of Riverine Forest making it home to many wild animals which grace along the river.
The reserves are home to rare animals in the northern part of the country i.e the gravy zebra with its beautiful elegant height and thin black and white strips and found only in Kenya and Ethiopia in the whole world, the Beisa Olyx with it sharp spear like horns, the gerenuk which can live it’s lifetime without water, reticulated giraffe and the Somali ostrich. Elephants are plenty and also the big cats lion, leopard, cheetah and many plains game. The reserves are also a birdwatchers paradise.
